Since 2014, I’ve been talking about the stories of the authors, editors and artists of the glorious fiction magazines of the first half of the twentieth century on my blog. Forgotten today except by a small minority of people with excellent taste, these magazines brought action, adventure and a spark of brightness into the lives of millions of people. At the height of the Great Depression, when people were starving, they turned to these magazines for escape.
Now I’m planning to publish collections of my favorite stories and authors from these magazines. If you’ve followed my blog, you know what to expect: stories of action and adventure around the world, biographies of authors and recommendations for further reading.
Here’s what I have lined up for the next 6 months:
A murdered man sends a message from beyond the grave.
A twisted tale of domestic malice involving diamonds and double dealing
Northwest noir from Murray Leinster
A pirate loots a Spanish galleon, and finds…
A grim western tale from a master of the genre
and a Johnston McCulley story.
